Zines in the Classroom

O.K., I'll start. Here's one everyone can use. Have your students make a "zine" that playfully illustrates all those facts you never wanted to know about something. Example? "How to be a proper host... to a bot fly."

The full description of the mini-creation process with ideas and a how to guide can be found at:http://smallsciencezines.blogspot.com/   AND   http://www.andrewyang.com/zines/ZineHowTo.pdf

Last year there was a national contest, this year why not hold one within your classroom or school?

Anyone else have any other favorites? Think broadly, many things you do yourselves or know of may qualify. They don't have to begin with science. Pass them along to me and pass this message along to others who you think might be interested. I'll assemble the collection and then resubmit them to everyone! We don't each have to invent every idea. Working together we can become more dynamic educators!

P.S. These zines are not my original idea. I met Andrew at a conference on Creativity (art/science themes underlying) at Wake Forest University last year.
